Fluorine Lubrication Solutions for High Shear Conditions

Recently, Jialede received a request from a customer specializing in automotive powertrain systems. This customer was seeking a fluorine grease with high shear viscosity, wide temperature range adaptability, and excellent damping properties for lubricating the metal-nylon mating parts in spline structures.

The customer's operating environment is extremely demanding: the operating temperature range is from -40°C to 160°C, and at high speeds of 4000-6000 rpm, the splines exhibit both circumferential and axial movement. The existing grease exhibited "surge" under high shear conditions, leading to uneven transmission, increased noise, and accelerated wear. The customer desired an equivalent product with performance similar to or even better than Klüber HPX 93-1202 and planned to conduct initial testing with approximately 500 grams of samples, with an estimated annual usage of 600 kg.

To address this need, our laboratory provided three candidate samples:

YBS-1768 Perfluoropolyether Grease – possessing excellent high-temperature stability and chemical resistance, suitable for long-term lubrication in extreme environments.

YB-NBU12 No. 2 Synthetic Grease – slightly harder texture, with good mechanical stability and protective properties.

YBS-1743 New Fluorinated Grease – based on NBU12 grease, with the addition of 5% ultrafine PTFE powder, significantly improving low-speed damping and friction smoothness.

Through targeted formulation design, we strive to achieve a balance between high-temperature shear stability, low-temperature starting torque, and damping performance at the nylon-metal friction interface. Jialede will continue to follow up on customer testing feedback, optimize formulation details, and ensure that the product maintains lubrication film stability and smooth transmission even under prolonged high-load operation.
